Built for Mark Judd
(President) of
Buffalo Industrial Diving Company located in Buffalo, New York
I started this table in October
2001 and was completed in May 2002.
Zebrawood comes from West Africa,
chiefly Gabon and Cameroon Republic.
The wood was supplied by Rob Plec
(Owner) of
Advantage Trim &
Lumber.
The top is 12 pieces of 8/4 Zebrawood
glued together with Gorilla (polyurethane) Glue.
The table measures 5 feet by 12 feet and
took over 200 hours to build in 7 months time.
The finish, (applied and buffed by
Rick Placek) is a clear automotive urethane.
The final sanding used 6" 1500
grit Hookit2 DA sandpaper, then buffed to a mirror finish.
This table represents the largest piece of furniture I have ever made, the top weighs more than 400 pounds.
Mark tells me when people see it for the first time, their jaws drop.
Now it's 2009, It has been over
7 years since I made the table and it still looks as good as the day I delivered it!
Zebrawood ages very well, it develops a honey colored hue.
The Zebrawood in
2001 cost $3500.00 for this project.
